Week of Oct. 11-14th

I am so sorry that I am late with the info this week...these short weeks always get away from me! :o)

Reading
story: Henry and Mudge: The Starry Night
comprehension focus: compare and contrast
vocabulary words: backpack, campfire, camping, hike, lanterns, tents

Language:
genre: narrative
grammar - sentence or question
*question words: who, what, where, when, why, how, does, did, can, will, should, could, would, may, is, are, etc.

Math:
Chapter 6: Coins
vocabulary: cent sign, penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar
**The more practice you give your child to count money...the better!
                  -count their allowance
                  -count pocket change
                  -count coins found in the car, sofa, laundry, etc.
                  -figure out which coins/dollars they will need to buy a treat at the store
                  -make their age and relatives' age in coins
