Jog-A-thon Update!

Wow, wow, wowza!!!! I am so excited to share with everyone that we reached our classroom goal for Jog-A-Thon pledges! If you remember, the students had set a goal for themselves of $1,100. They also decided that if they reached their goal, then they would be rewarded with a popcorn and movie party. As of Wednesday afternoon we had only collected a little over $500. So, needless to say, I was not very confident that we would reach our goal. I have no idea why I doubted the wonderful families that make up our classroom. Drumroll please................you all brought in over $1,325!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot thank you enough for your extremely generous support. This money helps our school to purchase numerous supplies and materials that are so crucial to the learning environment at our school. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I know that the students are very excited about their upcoming movie and pizza party. Once again...RAMS ROCK!!!

Scholastic Book Order Update

If you have been experiencing problems with the online ordering...you are not alone. Apparently Scholastic has changed their website. A note is going home today with the new info...I have also included it below. I am so sorry for the confusion. If you would like to send your order and payment in to me, I will submit the order for you this time.

Online Ordering Information
Web address: scholastic.com/bookclubs
Class Activation Code:
H3WKR

Dear Parent,

Now it’s easier than ever to find the perfect books for your child—shop our NEW online Book
Clubs Web site. Choose from a much-wider selection of books than in the printed flyer. Plus,
you can send your orders directly to me online and use your credit card to pay.

Best of all, we earn a FREE book for the classroom library every time a parent places an order online.

It’s so simple! Here’s how it works:
·         SIGN UP at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. On the parent page, register by clicking click the “Don’t have a user name or password?” link. When prompted, enter the one-time Class Activation Code shown above. This unique code ensures that your order is sent to me.
·         SELECT the books you’d like to order—choose from thousands of titles—many more than in our monthly flyers.
·         SEND your order to me online by the due date and your child’s books will be delivered directly to my classroom.
Ordering online is fast, easy, and secure.

Of course, you can still order using the form from the printed flyer. But why not see for yourself how convenient it is to order online?

Thank you,

Kristin Lofgren

Accelerated Reader Update

You or your child may have noticed that some limits have been set on their AR account. I gave the students a two week "grace period" for taking tests that were below their reading level. I wanted to give them the opportunity to get used to the system and how AR works. As of this week, students will no longer be able to take a test on a book that is below their reading level. Our goal is to keep students progressing in their reading abilities...and taking reading stories below their level will not support that. If you have any questions feel free to contact me!
